Getting in and Settling in
So it has been three weeks in Chicago! It is gone by so fast. I have met my house mates and they are all very nice. I am working on the South Side of Chicago at Bowen High School. I am ready to be working with the students. I have not gotten lost in Chicago yet so that is a plus. I am directionally challenged. At the moment I am really getting to learn about people and how I work with them. Everything has been very fast paced, I am so glad to have some down time. It has been an experience adjusting to a new place and being with people, but I am making sure that I have time and space to do things that I enjoy and love. I am thinking of joining a indoor swimming pool for this coming up winter to keep in shape and also to use it as a stress decreaser. I am still trying to find my place in Chicago and where I fit in but I am trying my best at the moment. On the first week, the house went and did a savenger hut all around Chicago. It was alot of walking, but I find out that Chicago has beaches. I had not clue that Chicago had beaches. the first week of work, was hard. I totally understand why my mother goes to bed at 9 at night. Even though I was super tired, I really enjoyed working at Life Directions. My first day conisited of getting to work and then going to the school to do a service project. The University of Depaul students where there to help. They helped out with the garden and the room which out groups are going to be in. The flowers in the garden were so pretty. I will update yall somemore this coming week.
Peace, Love, and Kindness,
Ruth
